The Landerman Family
Who we are:
The Landerman family has lived in the United States for many generations.
Though many of us actively attempt to trace our genealogy back through many centuries, we do not know the exact origin of the name.
Most believe it to be either Judaic or Germanic in origin.
If it was Germanic, then it would roughly translate to "Country Man" or perhaps "Land Owner".
I have personally speculated that "Landermann" was at one time an assumed title, similar to the Japanese Daimyos of the feudal period.
Etymologically speaking, I would suspect that both the Jewish Landermans and the Gentiles independently derived their names from the same origin, but hard evidence of this is not terribly forthcoming.
Apocryphal hypotheses on origins aside, we do know that for the past 5 generations or so the Landerman family has resided primarily in the Western United States.
Our family today is primarily Mormon, and most of us live in California.
Unfortunately, I do not have good census data on the exact whereabouts or religious affiliations of our scattered tribe, but hopefully the coming years will shed additional light.
As a somewhat interesting final note, the one similarity among us that we have observed is a predilection to the arts.
Whether it is nature or nurture is a seperate topic of debate, but there are more than a few scholars, educators, and artisans in our corner of the gene pool.
Addendum
I am told by Joselito that much of my rambling in this section is complete BS.
I respond publicly by asserting that it is all BS.
Having thus discredited myself, it is apparent that I am unqualified for my role as acting Editor-In-Chief.
Therefore, having searched my soul deep and wide, I realize it is my duty to begin the replacement process.
I nominate Joe for the job.
Nyah Nyah.
